Well here we are at SeaWorld at the Shamu show. It was very hot unless you got a little coastal breeze.

Here is my sweet Linc in his new hat - thanks Ashley. Everyone made comments on how adorable he looked.

They had this nice little area for babies. You couldn't be on it if you were over 37 inches tall. We saw them kick out a few kids who were like 38 inches. But it was a good place for Lincoln after being in the stroller for so long.

The beach. Lincoln loved playing in the sand and trying to eat it, but he didn't like the cold, salty ocean water.

We were lucky and got to go through a session each at the San Diego temple. What a spiritual experience.

This was when we toured the U.S.S. Midway. A naval ship turned into a museum. It was cool to see all the different rooms on board and the planes/helicopters they had.

San Diego

Well we arrived here in sunny California on Sunday morning. After getting our rental car and going to the hotel to find out that we couldn't check in yet, we went to find something to eat. Then we found a local ward and went to church. Afterwards we drove back to our hotel and checked in. We got lucky and got a room with a balcony facing the pool, it's really quite nice. We took a nap - we had been up since around 5:15 on Sunday morning. After that refreshing time we took a drive to the temple. What a beautiful sight that is. We are going to try to switch off with Lincoln tomorrow so that we can both go to a session. Yesterday we went to Sea World. It was really cool. Mostly the shows. We saw five of them. Shamu and his whale friends can really do some fun tricks. In one of the shows they had these acrobats that were doing some pretty amazing things. I won't bore you anymore with details. I don't have any personal pics because I didn't bring my camera cord, but here are some from the internet.

The trainers did all sorts of flips and tricks with the whales. So cool.

I never realized how close to the freeway this temple is. What a beautiful beacon.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Last week we went to Iowa for a Barrett Family Reunion. We went to a small lake in Missouri and rented a cabin there. We did a lot of water sports and played a lot of games. Basically too much fun = not enough sleep. We tried to catch up on that yesterday after getting into town around 4 am. In other news, Lincoln has taken his first steps. Mostly he only walks with encouragement from Mom and Dad, but a few times he has taken a couple all on his own. A few other fun things he does is when we say prayers he folds his arms all by himself, sometimes for the whole prayer sometimes not. He also points to and says "Jees" when we ask him where Jesus is. He is such a funny boy. Here are a few pictures from our trip. I got these pictures from my mom, which means there were like a thousand pictures. A little hard to just choose a few.

It was so cute to see Linc with his cousins. He loved playing with them.We loved riding on the tube. All the girls loved it. The little boys were a little scared.We had a day where we did all the cooking. This was Todd's contribution.My dad just loved having all the grandkids together.Todd had fun throwing the kids off the back of the boat. We played at the park. The slide was a little skinny for me.We went out in the morning one day. It was a little chilly, but relaxing.

A few fun facts

Well, no pictures for right now - I'm too lazy to hook up the camera to my computer. But I just wanted to write down a few of the fun new things that Lincoln is doing. No not walking yet, I think I'm okay with that. Anyway he learned a few weeks ago how to come down the stairs. He loves going up and down. He loves talking on the phone. He gets it right up to his ear and just jabbers away. It sounds like he is saying hello. He also likes to put the phone up to my ear and talk for me. He also likes to give me kisses. All in all he is really growing up. We love him so much and he is so fun. I guess I could say a little about Todd and I. Todd is taking the summer off of school and just working. He is training for the Military Physical Fitness Test. I am a stay at home mom this summer. It has been awesome. However, since I am a title 1 school I get to go to 9 days of Professional Development throughout the summer - yipee. I've been grateful that my sister, Bri, has been willing to watch Linc. We have Seven Peaks passes, but have yet to use them because of this awesome weather. I can't decide whether to hate it or love it. Well that's it for now, pics to come soon.

Being A Mom

Well, today my little baby turned a year old. I can't believe how much he is a part of my life and my heart. Every time I think of the blessing he has been in our lives, my heart grows a little bit bigger. Lincoln is such a sweet baby and he has such a fun personality. I'm grateful to be his mother and I hope that he is grateful that I am. Here are a few pictures of him over the last year. (Captions are under the pictures.)

Minutes after being born. He had some pretty awesome marks from the forceps. I loved that hair from the moment I saw it.Month 1 - This was about the time he turned one month old. He was starting to lose his hair on the sides, I was pretty sad.Month 2 - I can't believe all that hair. Month 3 - He looks so much the same and so different at the same time. Month 4 - When he actually still liked to fall asleep with the binkie.
Month 5 - I love this picture. I know it's a little silly, but I made him hold that leaf. Month 6 - He was rolling, but still relatively immobile - I miss that.
Month 7 - Crawling...EVERYWHERE.
Month 8 - Why do we buy toys?

Month 10 - He finally got his first tooth at the beginning of this month.

Nothing Much

Well, I know it's been awhile and nothing really has happened for me to blog about. I'm just not one of those creative people who are great about writing about everyday things. I just usually end up sounding lame, so I won't be doing that. We are all doing well, enjoying the spring. Todd is enjoying being out of school for the summer and spending more time with Lincoln. I have been trying to find a full time job for next year - ughh in so many ways. Lincoln has gotten his second tooth and is still getting into everything. He loves to eat tissues or any other soft product like that. He likes to pull all of his diapers out of the tv stand everyday. He loves stairs (just not going down yet). He loves playing with other kids (or poking their eyes out and pulling their hair anyway.) I can't believe how the past year has flown by. Well here are a couple of cute pics/video of Linc. Enjoy.

Outside

Earlier this week when it was so beautiful outside Lincoln and I went to the park and took a little walk. Lincoln loves swinging and watching all of the kids that are playing at the playground. After swinging and watching the kids we walked back home. I put him in the grass to take some pictures and it is so funny to watch him in the grass. He doesn't really like the feeling of grass, so it is the only time that I can count on him to sit in the same spot for more than 2 seconds. He also likes to try and eat leaves, trash, grass, anything that he can reach in his little semi circle. If I turn my head for a second, he usually has something in his mouth when I turn back around. It is fun to watch him when he goes through new experiences. I took a lot of pictures of him so hope you like them.
