A New Friend For Lincoln

In our home, in our bedroom, directly above Katie's and my bed we have a ceiling fan. Normally one does not find much comfort or solace from such an inanimate object and definitely not friendship. Lincoln, however, has found all those things in our bedroom ceiling fan. When he is fussy or frustrated with life, as baby often can get, we just place on our bed and he starts smiling and then sometimes laughing. Today I brought him in to our bed when we woke up and of course he had no interest in mom and dad all he wanted to do was talk with his friend. I decided to leave and when I got to the door I said Lincoln's name trying to get his attention. He smiled even bigger but didn't look at me, he kept his eyes fixed on the fan. I thought it necessary to explain to him that it was me calling his name and not the fan, I don't think he believed me.

Bathtime and 2 months

Lincoln loves taking a bath. He also is pretty good in the shower when we are pressed for time. What a handsome boy in his hooded towel.
Linc is so good at holding himself up when he actually stays on his tummy. A lot of the time he will just roll over right away.
Well today we had Lincoln's 2 month check up at the doctor. He actually did pretty well during the shots. He cried for a few minutes but then I fed him and he was great the rest of the day. The doctor says he looks great and everything sounds good. Here are the stats
Length: 23 inches (50-75%)
Weight: 12lbs 12oz (75%)
Head Circumference: 40.5 cm (75%)

The Dark Knight

Yesterday we went to see the Dark Knight, the new Batman movie, We both thought that it was awesome. Heath Ledger did an amazing job as the joker and stole the show. Wells Fargo bought out an entire theatre so that all of the employees from Nebo to the point of the mountain could go see it, they do it every year. I thought that it was a great sequel to the first, Batman Begins. I highly recommend it to anyone that loves a good action, superhero, good vs evil film.

F.B.I Internship

I received an e-mail from a friend concerning a paid internship with the FBI for next summer. I read all I could about it and talked it over with Katie and we have decided that I should apply for it. Over the past year, ever since my obsession started with the FBI, I have been looking for an internship, I found one but it was unpaid and so I knew that that couldn't work especially now that we are parents. This one, however, is and the pay is based on ones years in school. By the end of next Spring I will have 87 credits which puts me three credits shy of being considered a Senior. Oh well, the pay is $15.21-$24.95 an hour, so hopefully I land somewhere in the middle. This opportunity is really great and would put me closer to my goal of becoming an Agent, because to have the job one must have a full background check done so as to have Top Security Clearance. If accepted for the internship we would leave at the beginning of June and head for the DC area and would be there for 10 weeks. The job description says that one is placed according to his/her degree, which means that I would probably be working in the Cyber Crime Division. I know that it is really competitive and that there is a good chance that I won't even be accepted so I won't be depressed if I don't get it. But for now I am way excited!!

Sidesleeper?

Well I think Lincoln might become a side sleeper as soon as he can keep himself all the way on one side for an extended period.

New Discovery

Linc has finally discovered toys. He is starting to reach for them and it is so fun to watch him. It makes him seem so grown up. So many changes in him everyday. I can't believe it's been so long and so short at the same time since he came into our lives. He is such a blessing to us and I can't believe he's really ours sometimes.

A Parent's Responsibility

This is Todd. Surprise, Surprise! I am actually going to write on our blog. I am going to do so by first confessing. I am not the best at always making sure that we have Family Home Evening. For some reason tonight I had an impression that we needed to start. So this is the idea to kick it off for us. I decided that we would read the Wentworth Letter (available on the Church website)and then for the next 13 weeks do a lesson on each of the Articles of Faith. One of the goals is to have the Article of Faith memorized prior to each of the lessons. I think that this is a good way to start a habit; have everything planned for so far in advance that by the time you run out of plans you're hooked. Maybe at the end we will try to memorize the Standard of Truth and have a lesson on that, who knows? Anyway, Katie and I had a enjoyable time reading the Letter together and then afterwards we knelt down to have our family prayer, this may seem personal but I am comfortable sharing it. During the prayer I was overwhelmed with a glimpse of how important parenting really is. It's so much than just changing diapers and cleaning up after them. It's more than just disciplining and correcting. True parenting is about teaching our children who they are and helping them identify the Spirit. It's not dictating to them the answers or responses that they should give when confronted with something bad, it's teaching them the correct principals, which are eternal, and guiding them in their self-governance. Ours is the greatest of Responsibilities. President Faust in a talk gave us our priorities and they are; family, church, employer and then ourselves. Now I know that many of you reading this are veteran parents, however, I think that everyone needs to refocus and re prioritize form time to time. I love being a parent, and I thank all you who have been such great examples for me, especially Mom and Dad you two are awesome and the effects of your actions are eternal. Parenting truly is the greatest responsibility one could have.

Picnic

Yesterday Todd, Linc, and I went on a picnic in the Provo Canyon. We actually found a park where there was hardly anyone there. We brought a lot of stuff, and then after lunch realized that we didn't really need half of it. Oh well, it was fun to be outside with Lincoln for a little while. He seemed to really enjoy laying on the blanket beside us.

I love his beautiful eyes.
I just put this pic on because I don't really have anything to say about it except - I have the cutest baby ever!!! I'm sure everyone thinks that of their own children.

Nauvoo Temple

Ever since we were married in the Nauvoo Temple we have wanted a great picture of it for our living room to show our kids. Well we've never found one that we liked that was in our budget. A few weeks ago when I was in Iowa, Todd went to Justin's ward and saw this great picture of the Nauvoo Temple and asked where it came from. Low and behold a friend of Justin's had taken the picture and offered to have it sent somewhere to get it printed. So Todd called me and said he had a surprise for me. He had it framed and when I got home, I fell in love with it. This is the picture and the bottome one is just to show a little bit of the proportion of it.

My New School

Well here are some pictures of my new school. I got the perfect job for next year teaching half day kindergarten in American Fork. The reason it is so perfect is because the school is about 6 blocks from Megan's house. She is going to be babysitting Lincoln next year so it is nice to be close to him, instead of having to travel to the babysitter then back to school. It minimizes the time I will be away from my little guy. I will probably have a hard time as it is so this makes it a little easier.

Well as you can tell this is a much older school than the previous one I was at. None of the chairs or other furniture actually match. It's like I have all of the cast offs of other rooms. I'm used to my brand new school with all brand new things. It will take some time getting used to ugly furniture.
Another downside to an older school is that all of the previous teachers have left a lot of junk in the room. Which means all of the limited storage space in this classroom is full already and I have to find a place for everything in that lovely pile under the board.
Needless to say I need to spend a lot of time in my classroom in the next few weeks but that might be a little diffucult seeing that this is what Linc did almost the entire time we were there. So I guess Daddy or maybe Aunt Megan will get to be spending some time with him soon.
